The Lab - think, make communicate
The innovation BioMED-Lab is an interdisciplinary, project-centered educational laboratory for 3rd year students of the biomedical science program and open to host students from other faculties or partner universities (BS program "computer sciences for medical engineering", and other engineering programs/incoming students).
Aims are
- Awareness and first experience in cross-disciplinary R&D projects
- Experience in idea finding, innovation and project management
- Awareness for digital methods in life science applications
Students work in teams on scientific projects according to the principles of project- and research-based learning. The teams follow the procedure of a typical scientific project: think, make, communicate!
They come up with a project plan, do the practical work in our labs as independently as possible, and finally present their project in a poster and project videos which are published in our YouTube playlist. Experienced scientists and engineers assist as coaches.
Students from the METI program (computer sciences for medical engineering) can participate in that program (elective course) to work in interdisciplinary teams on project of lab automatization, image processing and similar topics (see example here).
